We are pleased to announce that the deadline for regular abstract submissions for the 2026 Conference of the International Society for Research on Emotion (ISRE) has been extended by two weeks and will now close on 5 December 2025 (all time zones).

We welcome submissions from scholars across all disciplines for:

• Symposia (up to four talks + discussant, or five talks; cross-disciplinary proposals especially encouraged)
• Individual 15-minute talks
• Posters

The extension is intended to give researchers additional time to finalise their contributions and to broaden participation in the scientific program.

We also welcome submissions for prec-onferences, which can be sent toisre2026@gmail.com. A second round of late-breaking submissions (flash talks and posters) will open in May 2026.

Active members can benefit from discounted conference registration. Early-career researchers may also want to follow the announcement of this year’s dissertation award.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive global community of emotion researchers, we have introduced significantly reduced membership rates for colleagues based in low- and middle-income countries. This change - effective immediately - reflects our mission to make membership more accessible and to widen participation in our community.

The ISRE conference is an exciting opportunity to meet international colleagues, present your work, and stay up to date with the latest developments in emotion research. ISRE members study emotions from a wide range of disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, sociology, linguistics, law, affective computing, history, anthropology, art, and design. Keynote speakers for ISRE 2026 will be announced soon.

Call for Submissions If you would like to present your research at the ISRE conference, we invite you to submit an abstract of 300 words maximum by 21 November 2025 (end-of-day Pacific Time). Submissions are welcome from scholars in all relevant disciplines for symposia (of up to four talks and a discussant, or five talks), individual talks, and posters. We encourage those who would like to organise symposia to include more than one discipline in order to facilitate cross-disciplinary exchange. Talks will be 15-minutes long. Abstracts can be submitted online at the ISRE 2026 conference website (isre2026.org). Please consult the guidelines on the website before preparing your submission.

Pre-Conference Proposals If you would like to organise a pre-conference, please submit a one-page PDF proposal to the program chairs at isre2026@gmail.com. Proposals should include the names and affiliations of the organizers, a description of 400 words maximum, and a provisional line-up of speakers and topics. 

All abstracts will be subject to peer review by an international scientific committee. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference program. Notification of acceptance decisions will be communicated in February 2026. Online registration is expected to be available shortly after that.
